El hotel es moderno, cómodo y nuevo.
Los servicios del hotel (como masajes y restauración) son muy caros (una cerveza cuesta casi 10 euros) en comparación con otros hoteles de cuatro y cinco estrellas en Indonesia en los que nos hemos alojado. Además, está un poco alejado de todo. El desayuno cuesta más de 12 euros por persona y es algo mejorable (deberían mejorar las etiquetas de qué es cada cosa, así como dónde se colocan; hay varios alimentos como mantequilla o huevo duro que hay que pedir a un empleado). Vendría bien añadir iluminación a la piscina para usarla por la noche (anochece sobre las 17:30). Piden un depósito de 300.000 rupias que no entendimos muy bien para qué es, ya que el restaurante no pregunta si hacen los cargos a la habitación y pagamos directamente.

That is a perfect place to stay in Pangkalan Bun. We loved it there. Nice, clean and comfortable rooms. Delicious breakfast and helpful stuff.

Rooms are super nice!!!
The room was gorgeous and quite large for Asia accommodations. More like what you would find in America. The lobby was also nice and the bell staff were great. To get a cocktail, you have to ask the bartender for the "secret" cocktail menu on his phone....and although the Mojitos were amazing, they were also $15 a piece. I don't know if this is because it is a Muslim country and the alcohol is most likely black market or what but I have never paid more than $7 for a cocktail anywhere in SE Asia and I have traveled to most of them.
Forewarning!! If you are traveling back to Surabaya or Jakarta from Pangkalan Bun, be sure to confirm which airport terminal you are flying out of. We went to Terminal 1 because Surabaya is still Indonesia (domestic we thought) but we actually needed Terminal 2. You have to take a taxi about 20 min thru the city to get to Terminal 2.... so be sure to go to the correct one!!! We booked 2 massages specifically for separate rooms (male and female friends and not a couple), yet they had the couples massage set up when I arrived. My friend arrived after I was in my room and the other "massage therapist" he said seemed like she was learning on the job and was reading on the internet about massage. The massage table was quite uncomfortable but this is almost always the case in Asia. Worst part of this, the spa is located right off of the swimming pool and 2nd restaurant. So for the entire 2 hour massage, both my friend and I (in separate rooms) had to listen to the karaoke going on in the restaurant and also a screaming kid that was cry/screaming for at least 15 minutes. My massage therapist was very sweet but she also got 2 calls in the middle of my massage....she at least declined the calls. I am not sure what architect thought it was a great idea to build the spa in that location. Also, upon checking out, although the front desk person did speak English, he kept trying to put my friend's room/bill on my credit card. Even though we each booked are rooms separately. Even after I told him several times that it was not my bill and he needed to find mine. He also somehow did not understand when I said we would pay cash for the taxi back to the airport and he kept telling the other front desk person to add it to my friend's bill. Checking out was more than frustrating!
